July 29, is Nature Moncton's Wednesday evening walk night with all details below:

Where: Humphrey Brook Trail
Meeting Place: Harrisville
Boulevard entrance. There isn't a parking lot. Please park on the widened gravel shoulder.

We will be walking the first 2
kms of the Humphrey Brook Trail, as the rest of the trail is closed for the
season for trail maintenance. This walk will be easy on a wide, well-maintained
gravel trail.
We will first walk by a
man-made lake where waterfowl can be seen. The rest of the trail will be mostly
wooded with plenty of birds and plants to observe. Because this trail runs
beside a brook, there will be mosquitoes.
Bug spray and protective clothing are highly recommended!

Moncton members or not. If you are a member, don’t forget to wear your name
tag!
Directions:

Via the eastbound Trans-Canada
Highway, take Exit 462 at the Caledonia Industrial Park. Turn right at the stop
sign onto Harrisville Blvd and drive 0.6 km. The trailhead entrance is on the
right.

Via the westbound Trans-Canada
Highway, take Exit 462 at the Caledonia Industrial Park. Turn left at the stop
sign onto Harrisville Blvd. Drive 0.8 km to the trail entrance on the right.

Via Shediac Rd., drive 1.1 kms east
from Stirling's Farm Market and turn left at the traffic lights onto
Harrisville Blvd. Drive 0.7 km to the trail entrance, which is on the left. You
can park on either side of the road.
**Identifying the many fledgling
birds we are seeing without seeing them attended by an adult can
be a challenge.

some he is seeing that had to be labelled as suspected. John also photographed
a pump spider that appears to be a wolf spider.
**Maureen Girvan paid a
visit to Wilson Marsh on Tuesday to enjoy the eastern kingbirds, bald
eagles (juvenile and adult), and mallard ducks.
**Nelson Poirier spotted a
mushroom in Riverview that he had never seen before. It was submitted to the
New Brunswick Museum for identification, and it turns out the genus has been
collected for the Museum but never this species, which was King Alfred’s cake mushroom
(Daldinia concentrica). It’s on its way to become part of the
collection.
If you like a chuckle,
check with Mr. Google on how it got its common name!
Nelson also got a surprise
on Tuesday morning when he looked out his apartment window in Riverview and saw a white-tailed deer doe and her fawn, a mere 25 m away, but they were being very cryptic.
