The last Wednesday evening walk of the season is happening tonight, Wednesday. All details below:

**NATURE MONCTON WEDNESDAY NIGHT WALK

Date: August 26, 2026, at 6:00 pm

Location: 31 Rockland No. 1 Road, Taylor Village

Leaders:  Fred and Susan Richards

It’s hard to believe September is just around the corner!  Where did the time go?  Please join us for Nature Moncton’s final Wednesday Night Walk at Fred and Sue Richards’ property.  The event will start at 6:00 PM, rain or shine. There will be some social time with a snack and then a walk down to the Memramcook River. The walk will be on mowed trails, and the walking will be fairly easy. We recommend long pants and mosquito repellent. We hope to see you there!  Please register at outandabout4nm@gmail.com so we know how much food and beverages to prepare.  If you need directions or have questions, call Fred at 506-334-0100.

Wear your name tag if you have one.  All are welcome, Nature Moncton member or not.

**Stella and Jean-Paul LeBlanc saw the marbled godwit at the St. Edouard Marsh on August 21, not far from the Irving EcoCentre.  It was still present on August 22 but not on August 24. It was a lifer for them and for a lot of birders in this area.

(Editor’s note: this pleasant visitor is far from its native range in western Canada and the Western US. It is a rare visitor to New Brunswick but periodically regular. As Jean-Paul mentions, it seems to have moved but may still be in the province, so all eyes on the watch!)

**While Brian Coyle was checking his trail cameras, he came across some interesting observations.

Brian got a video showing all sides of the destroying angel mushroom very well. The characteristic enlarged base within a sac shows nicely, along with the apron-style partial veil. Check it out at the link below:

Brian also got nice videos of a beaver kit, an American bittern fluffing up its feathers, and a nearly full-grown Wilson's snipe chick. Check them out at the links below:

**Shannon Inman photographed one of our many species of coral mushrooms. We have several species of coral mushrooms of various colours and this seems to be a great year for them to emerge.

John Inman also photographed one of our several ichneumon wasp species as well as a bright-line brown-eye moth that easily escapes attention.

A banded rock dove dropped by the yard for an assumed temporary visit from its home.

**Mushrooms continue to pop up everywhere!

Nelson Poirier woke up to a prime specimen of salmon amanita and grisette amanita, two species Nelson has not seen in several years.
