** Tonight is Nature Moncton meeting night at the Mapleton Rotary Lodge across from Cabela’s at 7 pm.  The presentation is repeated at the end of this edition.
** Susan Richards got a photo of a WHITE-LINED SPHINX  moth as well as a CANADIAN TIGER SWALLOWTAIL  on the numerous blooming lilacs at Cornhill Nursery on Tuesday.  The Nessus Sphinx is much less common than the often seen Hummingbird Clearwing moth in my experience.
** Richard Perron got a photo of a very content appearing clump of blooming YELLOW LADY’S SLIPPERS in a cedar swamp off the Ste-Anne Rd near Aboujagane on Monday.  They must be at the peak of their bloom time at the moment and like alkaline and cedar swamps as a favoured habitat.
** Eric Wilson comments he very much enjoys the cacaphony in the evening and morning of a VEERY [Grive fauve] in backwoods behind his home on Rural Estates Dr in Moncton.  The evening song of thrushes is truly a pleasant part of the closing day.
** At the recent Festival of Nature weekend in Sackville, one of the leaders pointed Chamisso’s Cottongrass as an uncommon species of cottongrass in NB.  Sean Blaney points out that Chamisso’s Cottongrass is actually a western species not in NB, and this would have been RUSTY COTTON GRASS.  Photos sent out labeled incorrectly have been corrected on the blog spot of June 8 and June 11, and the Nature Moncton Information Line that is retained as a separate record has been corrected.
** Nature Moncton meeting is on tonight.  The guests will be Paul and Ann Vautour to speak on BEES AND BEEKEEPING, to include the amazing social life of the Honey Bee and the impact that honey has made on history.  No doubt other members of our wild bee community will be mentioned and the part that they play.  Paul and Ann are very active members of the beekeeping community in NB and very knowledgeable about their charges, and their fascinating biology.  Paul and Ann are wonderful speakers and will have a lot of bee information to share and have been known to bring sweet surprises to their presentations.  The meeting will take place at Rotary Park Lodge across from Cabela’s starting at 7 pm, tonight, Tuesday night, June 16th.
