**Carmella Melanson got a striking photo of an inquisitive
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET [Roitelet à couronne dorée] on Thursday at Sackville. The
always on the move Kinglets can be hard to get such a nice observation of. In
Carmella’s photo the crown seems to have a bright orange to suggest it is a
male.
**Anne Marsch found three SILVERY
CHECKERSPOT BUTTERFLIES [Damier argenté] on the New Scotland Road on Thursday.
These are not a commonly encountered species in New Brunswick and are ranked S3.
Anne found the same species in the same spot last year on June
17th and June
29th. Anne also
got a photo of a GOLDENROD CRAB SPIDER, and also a surprisingly cooperative for
a photo HUMMINGBIRD CLEARWING MOTH [Sphinx colibri]. Possibly the cool day had it
chilling out.
**Brian Stone got many great photos
during a run made on Thursday to four sites in the Sackville area. Some are
attached today of MUSKRATS [Rat musqué], birds, plants, butterflies and
more. There is so much out there to see and hear this time of year.
