** Lisa Morris photographed an ASIAN MULTICOLOURED LADY BEETLE. This Lady
Beetle is one of the most common of our introduced Lady Beetles and can be quite
variable in colour and occasionally with no spots on the elytra. This one is
more orange in colour than the much more common red. Lisa also found the plants
INDIAN PIPE and PYROLA on her Hillsborough property as well as well as a
suspected worn NORTHERN CRESCENT BUTTERFLY [Croissant nordique].
** Most species of LADIES'-TRESSES ORCHIDS tend to be summer to fall
appearing. I noticed my first Ladies'-tresses Orchids in bloom on Monday, being
a pair of NORTHERN SLENDER LADIES'-TRESSES. They all have a similar appearance
overall. This species has blunted basal leaves, a green area on the lower lip
and is single ranked to make the identification easier. Thank you Jim Goltz for
confirmation. Also a photo of CHANTERELLE MUSHROOMS [Girolle] from a weekend
collection is added.
