**Roger LeBlanc will lead an impromptu field trip to Riverview
Marsh on Sunday morning from 8 to 11 a.m. Meet at the PetroCan station across
from Point Park on the Hillsborough Road at 8 a.m. Expect a nice selection of
Shorebirds [Oiseau de rivage] and other possibilities such as SORA [Marouette de
Caroline], Sparrows [Bruant], BONAPARTE'S GULL [Mouette de
Bonaparte], and whatever may catch the interest of group eyes. It’s a prime time
at the moment for many species at this location, with surprises always possible.
If rain or showers are happening, Roger says he’ll be there anyway, as weather
can change as it will.
**Paul and Rhonda Langelaan were able to catch a documentary photo
of the BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO [Coulicou à bec noir] they saw on August
15th. This can be a very hard bird to get a photo of. One can nicely
note the long tail and the red eye of this adult 12-inch bird.
**Bruce Coates got a photo of a PEREGRINE FALCON [Faucon
pèlerin] perched on a utility wire at Johnson’s Mills just after it had
taken a Shorebird prey. As Bruce comments, needless to say, the other 120,000
Shorebirds present all took flight.
