**The stormy weather brought some
new bird species to the feeder area of Jean-Paul and Stella Leblanc's in
Bouctouche. The female NORTHERN CARDINAL was joined by a DARK-EYED JUNCO, female
RING-NECKED PHEASANT and a special bonus, a PINE WARBLER.
** Dave Christie reports the foul
weather resulted in an increase in the feeder bird patrons that had been coming.
The sparrows, AMERICAN TREE sparrows, DARK-EYED JUNCOS and WHITE-THROATED
sparrows were coming in. A very shy RAVEN kept returning to pick remnants off
the bones Dave had put out for his dog Max but was very wary of being watched
even from the inside window.
**Brian Stone had a small flock of
six AMERICAN ROBINS drop by his Moncton yard on Monday. One was a partial albino
sporting a white tail.
Brian also had a spider appear on
the summit of their Christmas tree, which may have come in with the tree. It had
a 4 mm body and 1cm in length. It is one of the species of the long- jawed orb
weavers spiders of the genus TETRAGNATHA. Brian got an
over and under photo with the ventral view, showing how this genius gets its
name.
