** John Foster reports the FIELD SPARROW [Bruant des
champs] has become a very faithful patron, enjoying white millet in his Frampton
Lane feeder yard.
John also comments about a COMMON RAVEN [Grand Corbeau] that
has found the pieces of suet fallen from the suet feerer to be haute cuisine.
The raven is harassed by AMERICAN CROWS [Corneille d'Amérique] and when the two
are side by side in your yard the difference in size is very noticeable.
** Mitch Doucet reports that he was able to see the FOX
SPARROW [Bruant fauve] that makes regular visits to Daryl Doucette’s Briardale
Drive feeder yard. On Saturday morning, he saw it from the side trail at
Mapleton Park that passes by that Street. The feeder birds tend to gather in a
bush at the right corner of Daryl’s yard, looking up from the trail, and fairly
near the trail.
** In the clear cold sky of Sunday morning, Brian Stone was
able to capture the conjunction of the planets MARS and JUPITER. Brian also
includes a screen print of Jupiter from the Solarium app. Jupiter’s four visible
moons do appear in Brian’s photo. January is a great time to look for planets,
stars and constellations that Curt Nason mentions in his Friday sky
reports.
