**Three Red-bellied Woodpecker
reports in less than a week. That’s performance!
John Inman in Harvey, Albert County had
a female, Red-bellied Woodpecker arrive for her first visit to his yard on
Sunday.
On first arriving, the bird tried to
take nectar from a hummingbird feeder but when unsuccessful went to a top cup to
drink water.
**Georges Brun spotted 9 Bald Eagles at a spot on the
Petitcodiac River where they were watching over and foraging on a large carcass.
Georges tried very hard to identify the carcass but was not able to get into a
position to see it well enough for identification other than noting it was
noticeably large and appeared dark brown.
Georges also noted a flock of
approximately 200 Common Eider fly
over following the river. They were flying quite high.
It was also a great day for surfers to be out riding the Tidal Bore
as it came in. One of the surfers was Melvin Perez who has now become renowned
for the number of times he has surfed the Tidal Bore, now numbering over one
hundred times!
**Lisa Morris notes that she has seen 2
dead carcasses of a Double-crested Cormorant washed up on shore since
post tropical storm Fiona passed through the area. She has not noted any other
bird species and wonders if it may be significant.
