**Every day recently, John Inman has had yet another Rusty Blackbird join his swelling troupe. It has gone from a single, to a duo, to a trio, and now a quad!
Cornell’s World of Birds site list this species is one of North America’s most rapidly declining species having dropped 85-99% the past 40 years.
Very rewarding to see 4 of them in one yard in New Brunswick.
John Inman’s photo of a Polistes (paper wasp) was not available to add to yesterday’s text. That photo is attached day.

Shannon Inman came across and photographed a Yellow-spotted Salamander out and about on Monday appearing quite prime. With the recent weather, it is hoped is not getting the idea that spring has arrived!

**Nelson Poirier took note of the colourful cloudsape at 5 PM in the northeast on Monday evening.
Curt Nason comments “Apart from pretty to look at, it is the usual low altitude scattering of the red sunlight at sunset”.

** The Town of Sackville is to become the first North American “Wetland City” as accredited by Ramsar. Ramsar is a globally recognized convention on wetlands that provides the framework for wetland conservation and stewardship. It was signed in 1971 in Ramsar, Iran. Wetlands are some of the most threatened ecosystems on Earth. The event on Saturday, Nov 19 at 2PM celebrates wetlands and the Town of Sackville’s efforts in conserving and educating the public about wetlands.
The Town of Sackville invites all to celebrate the Town’s recent accreditation as a Wetland City and 75 years of wildlife conservation in Sackville!
The Town of Sackville is pleased to invite the public to an event celebrating the Town's recent accreditation as a Wetland City by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. Sackville is the first town in North America to achieve this prestigious designation! At the same time, we wish to acknowledge an important milestone in our town, the 75th anniversary of the Canadian Wildlife Service! The Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) of Environment and Climate Change Canada is responsible for the conservation of migratory birds, the recovery of species at risk, and the protection of nationally important habitats.
CWS has had a presence in Sackville, NB since Nov 1, 1947, when the then Dominion Wildlife Service opened its first field office in the Maritimes, in Sackville. There are now over 40 CWS employees in Sackville, where the office is perched on the edge of the Sackville Waterfowl Park, one of many important wetlands that have helped Sackville obtain its Wetland City Accreditation! Join us as we celebrate these joint achievements!
An event featuring short talks, unveiling of artworks and certificates, refreshments, waterfowl park tours by CWS staff and partners, and other activities will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2 pm at the Sackville Visitor Information Centre at 34 Mallard Drive.
Attendance is free, and registration is not required. For more information contact visitor@sackville.com
