**John Inman has 2 sets of
yearling White-tailed Deer coming to his Harvey birdfeeder yard. One of
John’s photos shows an animal that appears to be a male as rudimentary
structures are appearing on the head that suggest antlers will develop.
**Shannon
Inman shares some photos of ice deposits on foliage by the Harvey dam, taken on Saturday and caused by the weather on Friday. The thickness of the accumulated ice
is surprising.
**Pat Gibbs hadn't realized, until Dale Pugh’s recent interesting post, that Nature Moncton Nature News would have any interest in houseplants but for what it's worth Pat also has an air plant that is starting to bloom. They are not particularly showy, but Pat sends a few photos.
Pat also adds she never soaks or dunks her air plants. She
just gives them a good spray every night before bed and when she wakes up. If there
is a bit of breeze in the room from an overhead fan they use daily, plants get
an extra spray. They sit in a south-facing window.
(Editor’s note: Air plants are very unique neotropical plants
as they do not require soil to grow, having specialized cells capable of rapidly
absorbing water that gathers on them.
(Editor's note: gremlins gobbled Pat's photos of her air plant that are retrieved and will be on tomorrow's edition.)
Nature
Moncton Nature News is interested in any critter that flies, grows, crawls,
swims, or slithers!)
