**Norbert Dupuis was surprised to have
a male Ring-necked Pheasant up on his deck checking things out and later
strutting about the yard. The male Ring-necked Pheasant can become quite bold
this time of year with courtship on his mind. Norbert photographed a Red-breasted
Nuthatch seemingly pleased to find a cache of white millet in the snowstorm.
Norbert is also monitoring Haut-du-Ruisseau
Nature Park in Breau Village where a Nature Moncton Warbler
Field Trip will take place in May.
Norbert was lucky to spot a male Northern Cardinal there and a Red
Squirrel; however, the wildlife community will expand very quickly once
migrants start arriving.
**Nelson Poirier had a visit from a Sharp-shinned
Hawk to his feeder yard on Friday. From its size, it was suspected to be a
male, being near the size of a Blue Jay. The longitudinal striping on the
breast and yellow eyes are consistent with a juvenile bird. It was very patient
remaining in the shrubbery for some time until the right moment arrived.
