**The fluctuations in weather experienced in New
Brunswick this winter have led to some unexpected scenarios in many rivers and
streams.
Wendy Rogers was struck by the sudden change in a branch of the North Rusagonis Stream (of Fredericton). It became a torrent after 3 days of above-zero weather, and then an ice jam developed above a local bridge.
(Editor’s note: note the thickness of the ice slabs that point out cold periods that must have been experienced before this breakup.)
**A pleasant message from the family of Alma White.Alma had been a long-term very active member of Nature Moncton for many years. Alma was a long-term volunteer transcriber of the Nature Moncton Nature News in the days when it was done as a telephone recording and transcribed to the Nature NB listserv. Alma moved to Coburg, Ontario to be with her family. She is in an assisted care facility and very content with pleasant memories of the time she spent at Nature Moncton. Alma is now 102!
