** Louise Nichols shares a few more photos from Saturday’s pelagic trip off Grand Manan.  One shows an excellent view of an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL [Goéland brun] in flight to show the yellow legs of this species, and the location of the white windows on P10.  A group of Phalaropes, of which many were seen, shows a blend of RED PHALAROPES [Phalarope à bec large] and RED-NECKED PHALAROPES [Phalarope à bec étroit] with the Red Phalaropes showing the more solid greyish mantles and the Red-necked Phalaropes with the indication of striping in that area.  A photo of the many gulls following the boat attracted to the chum which sometimes the Shearwaters and other more uncommon species would join them, a parent COMMON MURRE [Guillemot marmette] with a chick that had probably nested on Machias Seal Island, and a DICKCISSEL [Dickcissel d’Amérique] that was discovered by the group on Sunday.
Louise also points out that Andy de Champlain did a video as an entry in the “Canada in a Day”  on that trip and can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0zaI9fhKWQ

** Anna Tucker shares a few photos of interesting CLOUD and SKY photos that caught her eye in the past few days.

** Mike Britton got some 2 excellent pictures of a juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER [Bécasseau roussâtre] at Taylor Head Provincial Park in NS that had been found by some members of the NS bird society.  This is a species that could very well appear in NB at this time, so take close looks at the photos and be ready.  It would be a special visitor and has been identified several times over the years in NB. It sometimes likes to get in grassy fields.  Mike also got a photo of a CLOUDED SULPHUR BUTTERFLY [Coliade du trefle] that seem to have been quite abundant lately, and also got a photo of a LARGE MAPLE SPANWORM MOTH day perching.

** Aldo Dorio got a few documentary photos of an immature BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON [Bihoreau gris] around the Neguac warf on Monday.  It’s that time of year when we are apt to see more of this heron as it starts to move southerly from a rookery  in the Inkerman area.

** Raymonde Chartier is a very enthusiast local person with a strong interest in mushrooms and has catalogued over 300 species of mushrooms in the local area.  Raymonde is inviting anyone interested to join her this coming Saturday morning September 17 at 9:30 am at the Aréna J.-Louis-Lévesque parking lot at the University of Moncton for a mushroom outing in the area.  Raymonde invites anyone joining her to bring along samples for identification.  Raymonde also points out there is a free English pdf book on mushrooms of Toronto at the attached website which looks excellent.
