** The AMERICAN CROW [Corneille d'Amérique] contingent at Attila Fust’s
yard in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent went ballistic when a NORTHERN GOSHAWK [Autour des
palombes] arrived for a visit on Sunday. Attila was able to get some documentary
photos that show the slate gray back of the adult Goshawk and the characteristic
white supercilium of both adult and juvenile Goshawks.
There seem to be fewer reports of Northern Goshawk this winter, but
possibly the sheer abundance of RED-TAILED HAWKS [Buse à queue rousse] is
over-shadowing them.
** Housekeeping would appear to be moving into full swing for AMERICAN
CROWS [Corneille d’Amérique]. Danny Sullivan watched a crow that found the
strips of bark on a neighbour’s fencepost were a perfect material for that
all-important nest, collecting it in huge beakfuls.
