** Carmella Melanson got a great photo of the adult LAUGHING GULL [Mouette atricille] in full breeding plumage that has been reported in the Walmart parking lot at the Lancaster Mall in Saint John.  Carmella notes the bird has been in that area for at least a week now.

** Susan Richards got a photo of a species of BLISTER BEETLE common to our area that really shows the red legs of this species, probably Lytta sayi.  John Klymko points out it is ranked as S5 in New Brunswick.

** Clarence Cormier had a SWAINSON'S THRUSH [Grive à dos olive] around his Grande-Digue yard all day on Thursday.  It was around the ground feed and Clarence was not sure what it was after, suspecting some type of insect.  He had the same scenario in mid-May of 2015 according to his nature notes.

** Mac Wilmot came across a small RACOON [Raton laveur] taking lots of grief from a group of very vocal AMERICAN CROWS [Corneille d'Amérique].  One would wonder if it was not trying to invade the crow’s nest.  It may have met its match with a well-placed beak in one of Mac’s photos.

** Louise Richard comments GREAT BLUE HERONS [Grand Héron] have been in the Jonathon Creek East in the last few years.  She’s happy to see them back even with the crews working to put the finishing touches on the Lake Gate project.  One Heron was enjoying a large boulder that had been placed in the creek.

** Aldo Dorio got a photo of a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER [Pluvier argenté] in full breeding plumage at Neguac wharf on Thursday.  He also got a BONAPARTE'S GULL [Mouette de Bonaparte] in non-breeding plumage with the red legs and black bill.

** Brian Stone is back with us in Moncton, but shares some last photos he took while visiting Perth, Ont. to include a BLACK SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY [Pappillon du celery], EASTERN PINE ELFIN BUTTERFLY [Lutin des pins], MOURNING CLOAK BUTTERFLY [Morio], FOUR-SPOTTED SKIMMER DRAGONFLY [La quadrimaculée], CHALK-FRONTED CORPORAL DRAGONFLY [La julienne], DUSKY CLUBTAIL DRAGONFLY, a LEMON PLAGODIS MOTH, a fistful of YELLOW MOREL MUSHROOMS [Morille comestible], a few BEAVERS [Castor] in spring discussion and a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO [Coulicou à bec noir] again.
