**Georges
Brun spotted a GREAT EGRET [Grande Aigrette] in the Bis Marsh off Louis Street
in Dieppe on Monday, very possibly the same one Roger LeBlanc saw at Riverview Marsh
on Sunday. There were six GREAT BLUE HERON [Grand Héron] to complete the entourage
. He also saw four young of the year RING-NECKED PHEASANT [Faisan de Colchide],
getting photos of a young male starting to sport its colours. There were
approximately 50 MALLARD [Canard colvert] ducks in the waters there, a BELTED KINGFISHER [Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique],
approximately 36 GREATER YELLOWLEGS
[Grand Chevalier], approximately 10 LESSER YELLOWLEGS [Petit Chevalier] and
some smaller shore birds Georges was not able to see well enough for a firm
identification. This marsh must be very rich with foraging opportunities.
Georges also noticed a PEREGRINE FALCON [Faucon pèlerin], roosting on the
Assumption Place logo.
** It
sure looks like a good number of Great Egrets moving about. Maureen Jowett
spotted one at Maquapit Lake on August 26 but has not observed it since.
