**Jane LeBlanc
submits a nice photo of the Large Yellow Lady's Slipper. This native orchid often favours alkaline
areas such as cedar bogs. However this particular growth is growing in Jane's
Saint Martins yard. She carefully brought it home from Ontario where
construction was going to happen to destroy them. The Large Yellow Lady's
Slipper is one of the few orchids that seems to tolerate being transplanted and
staying hardy but should never be taken from the wild as they can be purchased
at plant nurseries. Jane's situation, of course, would not apply as destruction
was imminent but saved from that.
**Richard Perron got a clear photo of a Fourteen-
spotted Lady Beetle which is a native species. This was taken last year in July
but I am not certain that it got to the BlogSpot. If it is a repeat, it is a
nice reminder of its yellow and black elytra. Its a small Lady Beetle.
