** Gordon Rattray was on the Grand Manan ferry on Friday and he watched GREATER SHEARWATERS [Puffin majeur] en route as well as 1 SOOTY SHEARWATER [Puffin fuligineux] that he got nice photos of. He also watched those skymasters, NORTHERN GANNETS [Fou de Bassan].

** Jane Leblanc got a nice photo of a SANDERLING [Bécasseau sanderling], both full view and tucked in during the incoming tide at the St. Martins harbour along with many SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau] and PLOVERS [Pluvier]. It sure seems that shorebirds are on the move at the moment. Some LEAST SANDPIPERS [Bécasseau minuscule] also got in Jane’s camera lens on the run. However … the bird that we had to consult Giles Belliveau on turns out to be an excellent photo of an immature MAGNOLIA WARBLER [Paruline à tête cendrée]. This species surely makes a few apparel changes in fall but still very colourful even if a faded version

** Brian Stone went for a drive to Cape Enrage on Wednesday. He got a beautiful panoramic photo of the pebble beach en route to Cape Enrage. It took 6 photos to create this striking image!
A MONARCH BUTTERFLY [Monarque] was gliding around the beach area but Brian was unable to get it open winged to determine the gender. This is a very fresh looking specimen so it is very likely about to start its trek to Mexico soon. Some BULLFROGS [Ouaouaron] were very present at Lars Larson Marsh on the way and I wonder if the 3 Little Blue Herons are listening in as they have been demonstrating their taste for our frogs. A mature Bullfrog may be large quarry!
At the Shepody Dam Brian noticed that all the ROCK PIGEONS [Pigeon biset] were clinging to the dirt cliffs beside the dam for some reason.
