**There’s a very popular spot that many folks visit in
Winter to see the Midland Ice Cave, a spectacular formation.
Jane
LeBlanc visited on Sunday and shares a photo.
It’s approximately a 45-minute walk from the road and ice crampons are a
must. The present snow may make
snowshoes more suitable. Jane comments, “it
is easily found on Google maps”. Jane
also visited Trickle Falls (Smith Falls) in Midland. Jane comments, “this is a lovely waterfall,
not a 5-minute walk from the road”. Ice
crampons are indicated here as well.
Good directions are found in the book, ‘Waterfalls of New Brunswick’. A
nice Covid-19 suggestion.
**Ray Gauvin took a video as he could during the
Groundhog Day storm that shows some of his specialties to include 1 of his 4
regular PINE WARBLERS [Paruline des pins] and his infrequent but regular female NORTHERN CARDINAL [Cardinal rouge]. His WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH [Sittelle à poitrine blanche] visited that day but did not wish to be included in
the video. Check out the action at the
video link below.

**In follow up to the BOBCAT [Lynx roux] comments of yesterday, John Massey shares photos of a
young Bobcat that was tarrying around his Dieppe home in February, several
years ago. He put out a dish of food, it
obviously liked the idea and returned for almost six weeks and would come when
he called it. Like cats do, it suddenly
decided, it did not need John anymore and off it went.
