**For those
unable to attend the Nature Moncton presentations given at Tuesday night’s
monthly meeting, they can be viewed at the links below.
On Oct. 17th, Alyre
Chiasson presented on ‘What do fish do in the winter’ in the first
half. Cathy and Isabelle Simon gave a presentation on the Burr Oak Tree
Planting Program with the Nature Trust of New Brunswick in the second half of
the meeting.
**John Inman got a distant photo of 60+ Black-bellied Plovers in flight showing the signature black wing axillaries (armpits) of this plover in flight.
John also got two interesting photos of an Asian
Multicoloured Lady Beetle. One photo is with the elytras (wing covers) down,
while a second photo shows it is just starting to take flight with the elytras
lifted to expose the wings ready for flight.
(Editor’s note: this non-native species of Lady beetle
is one we often see this time of year moving into homes and outbuildings
to overwinter.)
**Shannon Inman got a photo of a Coelichneumon Wasp,
a wasp species that possibly many of us have never seen.
**Aldo Dorio got 2
photos of Greater Scaup off Hay
Island on Saturday. One appears to be an adult female, while the other is
suspected to be a first-winter female. Common Mergansers were also
present, as was the female White-winged Scoter that Aldo photographed
yesterday.
