**Rheal Vienneau had a visit from a White Underwing moth  (Catocala relicta) that allowed him a nice photograph as it day perched.

This medium to large moth is a late-season flyer and is our only underwing moth with black and white bands on the underwing. The blander forewings vary from grey to blackish and white providing excellent camouflage when perched against birchbark.

**On Thursday Brian Stone found very few ducks at the Memramcook lagoon -- beside the only six Mallards present were just two pairs of Bufflehead ducks. A nearly blank slate compared to most days. On Friday afternoon, Brian noticed a visible 22° Solar Halo around the Sun and took a few photos to share.

(Editor’s note: the Bufflehead is one of the waterfowl species that breeds to the north of us and overwinters with us in New Brunswick. They are just arriving and tend to like lagoons and freshwater ponds until they freeze over when they will move to the coastline. The Bufflehead is our smallest goldeneye species.)
