**Besides the regulars in her yard, Jane LeBlanc also
had a Downy Woodpecker, White-throated Sparrow, American Goldfinch, Dark-Eyed
Junco, and an unusual one for her, a White-Breasted Nuthatch. The
Red-Breasted Nuthatch is very common, but the White-Breasted is rarer. It's
nice to see them all enjoying the (cheap) dollar store suet. The Canada Jay
continues to show up periodically.
**Phil Riebel from Miramichi has received recognition
for his outstanding underwater photography of salmon. The link below describes
that recognition and one of the photos that earned it.
**Barbara Smith and her sister were out for a walk in
Riverview on Friday when they were surprised to see what appeared to be a
full-sized deer-shaped ‘lawn ornament’ come to life with the twitch of her ear.
The White-tailed deer, seen from a path between some houses near the high
school, decided the sisters were not a threat and began grazing. The two of
them watched the deer for several minutes as she made her way around the yard
before disappearing into the woods behind the house. She appeared to be in the
prime of life with a very glossy coat.
