** I suspect the NORTHERN LAPWING [Vanneau huppé] made many folks very happy on Christmas Eve, it sure looked like it was having a good day. Ann Marsch got a great photo of it as well as lots of others. Former member Brian Coates who now lives in England and monitors the Information Line comments he sees these birds in Kent, England but nothing like the big flocks that used to gather in flooded fields during winter time. They have some breeding there now but only in Nature Preserves. [Transcriber’s note: I used to see great flocks of them on both sides of the road as I cycled to school through the farmlands of Lincolnshire and am sad to hear of their decline.]

**Aerolynn Greene in Riverview had a male RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER [Pic à ventre roux] come by in the Christmas Bird Count period. It was the fifth time she has spotted it visiting over the past few weeks so it is in the area, possibly visiting other feeders. Aerolynn also reports she has a significant PINE SISKIN [Tarin des pins]  presence, approximately 30 that are very present most days.

** It seems a while since EVENING GROSBEAKS [Gros-bec errant] have been reported at feeders over the past weeks but John Massey had some appear to his Dieppe feeder yard on Tuesday. John also shares a nice photo of a MOOSE [Orignal] trail down a scenic winter road.

**Reports are suggesting WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS [Bruant à gorge blanche] are more common at feeders than usual at the moment. Janet Cormier shares a photo of one at her Salisbury Road feeder. I also have one as a faithful regular and Janet shares a photo. I suspect that Janet’s picture is a young-of-the-year with seemingly a lot of breast streaking remaining.
