** Another day … another MINK [Vison d'Amerique]. Ron Stiles submits photos of a Mink that has taken an interest in a ditch in front of his son’s home in Hanwell, just outside Fredericton.

** The bird action continues for Jane Leblanc at St. Martins. She had a very photogenic BARRED OWL [Chouette rayée] drop by her yard on Tuesday. She also had 6 to 8 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS [Bruant à gorge blanche] come by her yard. Jane’s nice photos suggest a maturing young of the year bird with its chest striping remnants still intact. The photos show the white eyebrow. Some come with a tan eyebrow as well. The central pale streaked crown stripe shows nicely in one photo. Jane also saw a group of 6 to 8 TURKEY VULTURES [Urubu à tête rouge] on Monday on the old Hampton Rd. area of Rothesay, her picture nicely showing the lighter shading of the primary and secondary feathers.

Kevin Renton reports their normally active Stilesville feeder yard is coming to life with the expected AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHS, and other expected regulars. Two AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS just arrived which is late compared to previous years and the usual RING-NECKED PHEASANTS are coming. They have had a nice showing of EVENING GROSBEAKS the past few years but none have come by as yet this year.
